Fly by post

I don't have much time today but I wanted to write a few words just because I haven't posted in such a long time. The sickness is over but my asthma has been bothering me ever since. I guess that's part of the deal when you get bronchitis.

The weather has finally taken a turn to the warm side. We've had two beautiful days that have actually been warm. I'm not sure how long it's going to last but since the holiday weekend is coming up I'm figuring it's not going to last long. Memorial Day is notoriously cold and rainy here in Wisconsin. I haven't seen a forecast but I'm betting at least one day of the long weekend will involve rain . . . we'll see.

I had some awesome looking beads last week but a friend bought them and I didn't take any pictures. Maybe I'll throw together some more of them this weekend. Spring cleaning has taken a back seat since I got sick along with going to the gym. My goal is to get back to both of them in the coming week. Survivor is over which means Thursdays are now clean slate and my plan is to make beads on that night each week. Lots of plans, goals and high hopes.

Knitting is going on quite nicely. I have a sweater-let done and blocking on my dining room table. It knitted up really great and I'm hoping it will go together and look like a million bucks. It's a birthday gift for one lucky girl, I sure hope she likes it. Also drying in my kitchen is a batch of sausage that I made with our friends Mike and Sharon last Saturday. It's a Sardinian Hot sausage and I'm going to surprise my dad with it for Father's Day. He's not a computer guy so I'm pretty sure he won't be reading this and any family members need to keep the secret! I pretty much figure I'm about the only woman with a sweater blocking on the dining room table and sausage hanging in the kitchen drying. Anyone else out there doing that? If so, we need to connect!!! icon_wink

Have a good Thursday! icon_cool

Cough, cough, cough

It's been pretty quiet here. To make a long story short, I've been dealing with a nasty case of bronchitis. It's been over three weeks of fevers, laryngitis, coughing so hard that I couldn't stop, two rounds of antibiotics, two kinds of enhalers and 6 days of missed work! Wow!

There are four more little pills sitting in the medicine bottle and then I'm out of antibiotics. I'm scared. The last time when I ran out of the first set of antibiotics, I preceded to get sick again. Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't come back this time.

Happy Easter (late) to all my peeps! I usually call at least a couple of people in Germany, but that didn't happen. Maybe this weekend I can give it a try. If a take a hit off my enhaler I will probably be able to talk a little longer!!!

The weather here hasn't been much help. It's been cold and wet. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 80's. Wooohooo! Though, we live near the lake to it never gets as warm as what is predicted; but still, it should be in the 70's!!! Rain and cold is set to come back for the weekend . . . alas, Wisconsin in the Spring. {{{{sigh}}}}

Spring?

Let's talk about Spring in Wisconsin. I really don't want to tweek the noise of Mother Nature, but she certainly needs a nudge when it comes to Spring weather in our neck of the woods. For example: Today! It's well into March, and though the sun was shining this morning, we're expecting snow tonight. You might be thinking, "Who cares about a little snow." And you might be right, IF we were expecting a little bit of snow. The last time I checked the weather forecast, 7-9 inches of that white stuff is on it's way to Kenosha.

I'm sure it will arrive this evening when we'll be traveling up to Milwaukee for a hockey game. If not, it will hit us on the ride back home. Then we'll have the joy of shoveling tomorrow and then we hope it melts quickly before it damages the sprouting daffodils and tulips in the yard.

So let's do a little test of sorts. I'll pop a picture in here of what it looks like now and then I retake the picture tomorrow and we'll see just how correct the weather people on television are!

I guess the weather forecast was right. Damn!

My Spring cleaning is going much better than the weather is right now! I'm going through everything, and I mean e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! So far I have the guest bedroom and hall closet complete. The drawers have been emptied in all dressers and night stands. The closets have been completely emptied as well. I've sorted through clothes and miscellaneous items as I emptied each area and put everyting in three piles: Items for donation, keeper stuff and garbage. It's pretty much a tie between the items for donation and garbage - if you keep track of that sort of thing. The good news is that with the keeper pile dead last in the standings, we have much more room in the closets and drawers than we've had in a long, long time. I suppose that they will fill up again eventually, but for now it's a good feeling.

The biggest triumph is that the vacuum cleaner now fits in the hall closet!!! It was hanging out in the guest bedroom closet or just in the guest bedroom (when the closet was overflowing). Also, who knew we had so many hangers! OMG, I can't believe that at one point I was thinking that we needed to buy some hangers. They're everywhere now! We're going to have to go through them and throw back the ones that aren't keepers.

On tap for tomorrow is the bathroom. I would do it today if we weren't going to that hockey game I mentioned earlier. There will be plenty of time for that tomorrow before we go to bowling. And that's probably a good weekend's worth of work, in my estimation. It's too much work to do in one weekend and I can handle one area at a time much easier than tackling the whole house. It hasn't been decided yet, but I'm thining that next weekend will be the living/dining room. I'm scared of the kitchen and I want to do the bedroom last because we have a bunch of plants in the bedroom window. I'd like them gone so that I can clean up that mess. I'm hoping in a few weeks the weather (Mother Nature, are you listening? ) will be warm enough for the plants to reside outside!!!

It's been a while

Not much has been happening here and I guess I've been uninspired to write any blog entries. Ho hum! It's a boring time of year in my mind. The weather: Crappy. Spring will never get here and February seems 1,928 days long. How can it be the shortest month of the year? Thank God it's now March. I just can't take any more February!!

We had a small baby shower for my brother's new baby who is due to make his/her appearance on April 1st. What a great birthday - lots of jokes and fun. But how many babies do you know who were born on their due date? I know of but one. Chances are this one will be late because it's a first baby and everyone knows first babies are late.

So enough blogging for one night. It's late, I'm tired and I've got to wrap up a pot of soup I made with some leftover veal bones from dinner. It's so yummy. I'm going to have a good lunch tomorrow!

Ciao for now!
